Student Travel Grant Program
The 2025 INFORMS Applied Probability Society Conference and Summer School are pleased to offer travel grants to subsidize the costs of attending both events. Each selected student or postdoc may receive up to $1,500 to cover travel, lodging, and registration expenses. The final amount awarded will depend on the number of applications received and the availability of funds.
Funding Details
- The grant covers travel, lodging, and registration costs of up to $1,500 for students attending both the Summer School and the APS Conference.
- Awards are subject to the availability of funds.
- Postdocs may also apply, with funding decisions dependent on available resources.
Eligibility
Both students (undergraduate and graduate levels) and postdocs are eligible to apply for this program. Priority will be given to applicants who:
- Attend both the Summer School and the APS Conference.
- Present their research at the APS Conference (either as a talk or poster).
Expectations for Funded Participants
Recipients of the travel grant are expected to volunteer for approximately 4 hours during the conference. Volunteer duties will primarily involve assisting with video recording of Summer School talks.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit the following materials:
- Personal Statement (not exceeding 1,500 words):
- Explain how attending the Summer School and/or APS Conference will benefit your academic and professional development.
- Indicate whether you plan to present your work and provide the title (if available)
- Discuss your financial need and other potential funding sources (if applicable).
- Curriculum Vitae (CV):
Include details about your academic background, research experience, and achievements. - Advisor/Mentor Recommendation Letter:
- The letter should describe your strengths, potential research contributions, and financial need.
- Advisors must confirm their willingness to cover any remaining costs beyond the travel grant.
